We got up early for our 8 am game against probably the weakest team in the bracket. The challenge to the girls right off the bat was to play possesion soccer, minimize the turn overs and to work on our set plays.
The girls took early control and worked the ball really well. We put the ball in the goal twice with Sara sneaking one past the goalie and then Paige pulling one around the goalie as she came out on her.
Tayler scored on a corner set play and we had a 3-0 lead at half. It really could have been worse. I put restrictions on early and forced the girls to work the ball around.
The challenge in the 2nd half was to have zero turn overs and to string at least 20 passes together before shooting.
TW scored twice on crosses from Sydney and AD and Paige capped the scoring with a rebound shot. The girls played with a lot of class by playing possesion and not running up the score.
The defenders are playing really well right now We are dropping the ball and rotating the field better than we ever have. Donut saw the field for the first time sparingly this morning. We will evaluate her and then see how she will play the rest of the day.
So a 6-0 and a brief two hour break before we play at 11 against the other undefeated team in the bracket. I expect a dog fight.
